Playa del Secreto is located just 15 minutes from Cancun's international airport, just off highway 307. The closet town is Puerto Morelos, just 5 minutes to the north.
Unlike most of the tourist areas on the Mayan Riviera, Playa del Secreto is exclusively residential. Just a handful of private homes, condos and villas are located on this wonderful stretch of pristine beach. This allows you to have the best of both worlds.

Just 5 minutes north, the village of Puerto Morelos has restaurants, dive shops, souvenirs, fishing charters, snorkeling and several tiendas, internet cafes, money exchanges and a grocery store.
Some of our favorite restaurants?
Hola Asia great oriental fare and really great prices and an upstairs view of the town square that can't be beat!
Le Marlin Bleu the best shrimp tacos ever.
Los Pelicanos typical Mexican fare with a breathtaking view of the sea.
Posada Amor tell Rugelio that we said hola! Best breakfast in Puerto Morelos.
John Gray's Kitchen fine dining and so much more!
The town square of Puerto Morelos and fisherman's wharf are the place to go if you are looking for fishing, SCUBA or snorkeling. Since Puerto Morelos is a working fishing village, the fishermen sell their wares at the co-op near the wharf. Get there early for the best selection of the day.
Once upon a time (not so long ago) Playa del Carmen was a sleepy fishing village and most tourists discovered it through the cruise ships that passed through from Cozumel. Not any more.
Playa del Carmen is now a world class, international tourist destination and like Topsy, has just grown and grown.
Avenida Cinco (5th Avenue) is the main tourist area, full of hip boutiques, elegant hotels and outstanding eateries.
It would take 3 pages to list all there is to do and see in Playa del Carmen. Here are a couple of favorite restaurants. The rest of Playa is yours to discover.
Yaxche one of our favorite restaurants in Playa del Carmen. Located on calle 8 between avenidas 5 and 10 serves traditional and unique Mayan cuisine.BLue Parrot a Playa institution. Swing bar, dancing and dining on the beach and under the stars. Calle 12 on the beach.
Las Palapas Hemmingway on 5th avendia between calle 12 and 14. Serving generous portions of Mexican fare and Margartias.
Day Trips
Isla Mujeres--take the ferry from Punta Juarez and spend the day on this lovely, laid-back island. Garrafon National park has great snorkeling and Playa Norte is one of the best beachs to see and be seen. Don't miss Sergio's Beach Bar, the lounge chairs are free with the purchase of food and cervezas!
Sunset on Playa Norte-Isla Mujeres
South of Playa del Carmen at the very end of the Maya Riviera is a special place called Tulum. It remains one of the few spots on the coast that hasn't been over run and 'developed' The Mayan ruins are worth the trip alone and don't forget your bathing suit, there is a great place to swim right at the ruins.
And the wild coast is a wonderful place to pull up a blanket and some sunscreen. Interesting restaurants which serve everything from vegetarian to fresh seafood and tipico Mexican can all be found along the Boca Pailla road which runs along the beach. Ana y Jose's is a great restaurant for lunch or dinner and is in the center of Tulum
The Mayan Riviera starts just south of Cancun and continues south to the village of Tulum
Located southwest of Playa del Carmen, the ruins at Coba are a amazing example of the Mayan Culture.
This is an archeological site that is still under excavation. You won't find anywhere near the crowds that visit Chichen Itza
Halfway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum is the beach town of Akumal, which in the Mayan language means 'place of the turtles'. It's a very interesting village and has resisted most of the large scale development of the rest of the coast. Akumal is full of intereting beach front restaurants, shops, dive shops bakeries and bars. One of our favorite places to hang out after a day of swimming is
La Buena Vida
Casa Cenote
This might be your idea of a well spent afternoon. The Casa Cenote restaurant is located just south of Akumal in the Tankah area. Watch for the signs off 307.
